Okay, I was working really hard this week, and feeling sort of downtrodden and sorry for myself, so yesterday after a totally unpleasant meeting with somebody who I felt was OVERLY CRITICAL toward me, I got a new bird feeder at Target. I have always wanted a bird feeder. I just got this cheap plastic one, I don’t know, I’m not sure what a good bird feeder is, so I thought I’d start with something modest.
Anyway, now I have it here, with some very yummy bird seeds, but I need a bracket of some sort. I am so excited to put it up, and I considered rigging it up with a hanger in this certain way, but what if it fell down while birds were on it, and the birds were injured? So I have to get to a hardware store. Except there is not one in my neighborhood so I need to wait for the car. I will update you on when I get it up! Maybe a photo of my first bird visitors!
Okay, I just started Midnight Awakening. In fact, I am so early in the book (page 58) I don’t have much to say, but I have formed some specific high hopes!
High hope number 1: I hope that Elise becomes part of the Order! She is already sort of like Linda Hamilton in Terminator Two. Maybe she won’t fight alongside them, but I would be so into it if she could be like the one who sniffs out the Rogues with her super psychic senses.
High hope number 2: In the meantime, I would like to see her and Tegan really be a Rogue and Minion killing team on their own. It says on the back of the book that an alliance will be forged and a vow made. Could it be them as a killing team? Maybe I have been working too hard but this is something I do want to see.
High hope number 3: Tegan is sort of on the fringes and anti-social. Usually these Breedmate women sort of soften and socialize their men. I would love to see Tegan and Elise remain on the fringes, though, and be the freaks everybody is sort of frightened of, like Tegan is now.
High hope number 4: It would be cool if Elise and Tegan could combine their powers to be a superpower. She can hear thoughts, he can hear emotions. What if together they could do something that was greater than the sum of their parts?
Even if my wishes don't come true, I am sure I will love this book from what I have heard from LesleyW and MaryKate and others. In fact, I am sure by page 100, something even better may be true.
Even more likely, by page 100 I'll just be totally focused on wishing Tegan and Elise would hurry up and have sex while sucking each other's blood and I won't care whether they are a killing team, but for now, my hopes are of a purer sort.

If there's one thing that this festive season brings out in me, it's the
need to read cozy books. Whether they are Romance, Mystery or Fantasy, I
want so...

That bird is so hungry, CJ, you need to feed it.
Man you are a reading fool lately. I haven't been able to focus on anything. I have no less than 5 books started. I am booktarded right now. I'll just read vicariously through you.
Hey CJ! I have two bird feeders. One is on a pole in my perennial flower garden where I can see it from a window, and the other is hanging from a hook off the garage where I can see it from the kitchen window and patio. My favorites are the goldfinches and the chickadees <--they're chatterboxes and not so afraid of humans! It is so fun seeing and hearing those birds. And its like live entertainment for my cats, too!
Anyway... I loved Midnight Awakening! I thought both Tegan and Elise are really great characters and they are so very sexy together. I loved it. I just finished Midnight Rising last night, which I also loved. I love Lara's consistency with the quality of her romances. Sheesh! How many times did I use 'love' in this comment?!? ;)
Happy reading!
Another Adrian. That's a very popular name.
No bird feeder here. Just a flock of laying hens and one very content rooster.
heh, well i hope your hopes are realized. Although I don't think they pan out precisely as you have outlined them. (can't recall all the details as it's been a while since I read the book). Still, entertaining book, nicely written. wish I could get as jazzed about this series as the rest of the reading public. I think the crack has spoiled me for vampire warrior brotherhood series. :/
LB: I forgot you had those serious birds! You don't need a bird feeder, your place is a bird feeder.
Christine: That is so sweet you have two feeders. I hope goldfinches come to mine.
Sula: Yes, on further reading my hopes don't pan out! But it's okay.
sula - Crack will do that to a girl. ;o)
CJ - Hope the book ends up fulfilling some hopes anyway. I really enjoyed it. It's what started me on my Adrian kick, which I've enjoyed tremendously.
Now you have intrigued me and I have added yet another series to my list!! I am trying to keep a list online of all the series I am reading and this one sounds like one I want to start!! In fact, I have the first one in my TBR pile - guess I better get it out and start.
I loved Midnight Awakening too! Tegan and Elise are great together, and I really like how antisocial Tegan can be, it's kinda cute in a grumpy sort of way. :)
Okay apparently this is one in the series I missed so *grumbling* I will head back to the TBR pile and locate it!
Oh I love an antisocial grumpy guy.
Hm.
Well, from where I am, a lot of my predictions are not coming true. But I got my bird feeder up!
But I put it in a sort of lame place where I can't exactly see it from where I am at my desk. I think I may have to scoot my whole operation over!! Also, I am worried Robins might not be able to partake. Are robins bigger than cardinals and blue jays?
Thanks for the laugh. You're so kind, about the birds, that it almost made me feel bad that I don't do anything for them. Well that's until I remember how mad I get when they wake be up singing.
I'm glad you're enjoying the book, I thought it was pretty good (so is the next book).
Hey scooper,
I have the next on order from Amazon. And actually, your comment makes me glad I didn't locate my feeder near the bedroom.
But it doesn't matter because NO BIRDS ARE COMING! I am so distressed.
Here they come.

Oh, you are very funny little miss! I am thinking of putting some shiny stuff around it. Maybe that will work.
That movie would have been so much better if the chickens attacked her.
It might take a few days for the birds to notice. I think. I'm not really a wild bird gal. We should ask my boy who knows everything there is to know about birds, and then some. He bird bands with with the audobon society.
Oh, chickens would be funnier. And scarier. Do you remember all the Karen Valentine disaster movies when we were kids? I still think about those. Especially the ants and the killer bees one.
I'd love if you'd see if your son thinks something shiny could attract birds.
Something shiny usually distracts me.....
I'll ask him tomorrow. He's gone out with all the dudes from boarding school to play laser tag. I'm SO jealous. I love laser tag.
