I need answers!

I would so love if you would answer my TWO new polls at left. One is for Kresley Cole readers, one for everybody.

PS: on the too long to load question, ignore the video.

If you decide the page loads too slow and you want a more compressed version of the header graphic, let me know. I think I still have the original file around here somewhere...

Carolyn Crane said...

Oh, hey Bettie!

just FYI, I am still in LOVE with this header.

I just never checked it out on speed, and I see other people worrying about this sort of thing all the time. I have tons of graphics everywhere, you know. The page loads fast for me. We'll see.

I'm going to be straight with you about Cole. The first two are very good, particularly the second. The Hie is exciting, the characters interesting, the sexorin hot and the pace just jiffy.

I was brand new to blogging when I graded that last one. Truly should have been either a C+ or B-. What was I thinking when I said B+? That I really liked the other two books better and that I wanted it to be smokin hawt. Sigh. Will I read the next? Absolutely. I like this series a lot. But this one? Begin with at the beginning. Not because you will miss vital info (they do pretty much stand alone) but because it's weaker.

Oh, shit. I don't know what I was thinking getting this one! I think I was confused back when I ordered it.

lisabea said...

erp. I'd send you mine, but Sula called dibs. She could send them to you after she's through...we sorta do that.

Carolyn Crane said...

Hey, that would be really cool. Maybe I could send you one of my books you're aiming to read. I just started the Spymaster's Lady. Goddamn! So excellent.

sula said...

hehe, i got dibbs on something! woot! But of course I am happy to send it on over once I've read it...assuming lisabea mails it to me. ;)

If you want another Cole, I just finished the Captain of all Pleasures (historical). But I'll warn you, it was solid C territory. cliches, feisty heroines, alpha hero and all. yawn. Apparently, it was her first book? Here's hoping they got better. lol.

oh and enjoy the Spymaster's Lady. It really is all that it was cracked up to be (at least in my opinion). :)

I swear they are on the counter waiting for you Sula. The one you read was a DNF for me. bleh. Send them on to CJ if you like. I loved No Rest for the Wicked and read it, um, twice. Got it for my sissy who LOVED it. Course she's easy to please..heh...and won't read any man lovin.

That Spy book. Why do I feel like I need to be fluent in french to appreciate it? And that is SO not the case. I can find the toilet and the youth hostel ok, but that's about it. Still, I'm game.

lisabea said...

Also, since I'm avoiding the taxes, I'd like to tell you, CJ, that loading this page isn't a problem unless I'm on my cell phone. Heh. HOWEVER, I can't hit the back button. It's like, Once you arrive you can NEVER leave...spooky scary!!

Carolyn Crane said...

Okay, first, SULA: if you are sending me book #1, then I would love to send a book to YOU, too in exchange. What are you in the mood for? I have mostly urban fantasy and paranormal. A lot of books I review I have made extensive notes in and keep, but I'll tell you if that's the case. Available books off the top of my head: first 2 Patricia Briggs, Succubus Blues, Helles Belles, Charlaine Harris' Grave Sight or Grave Surprise, Lord of the Fading Lands, Heart of Stone, All 5 Keri Arthurs, Slave to Sensation, Games of Command, Gabriel's Ghost, Archangel.

Carolyn Crane said...

Okay, LB: so you are holding off on Spymaster? I'm in like 20 pages and it's excellent. Also, no back button? Maybe I need to do a poll on that!!!!

ooooh, feel the book sharing lurrrve. I heart fellow bookreaders. *g*

I would love me some Keri Arthur. I got book one from my library and totally dug it but that's the only one they had.

oh and lisabea, I have a little stack for you as well. Two Lisa Marie Rice and one "surprise". hehe.

I don't think you have to know french to appreciate spymaster...but I do think it may just add another layer of enjoyment. It's not that the characters use French so much as the tone and rhythm and word choice are in line with what one would expect using that language. Anyways, you should read it. Great book. Strong heroine, yay!

Carolyn Crane said...

Okay, Sula, email me your address (carolyn7000 (at) earthlink.net and the name of the keri you read and I will send you a couple more. Yes, they were quite good! And take your time on the Coles. My TBR pile is GIANT.

LB, thanks for the offer of the Cole romances. In spite of your glowing recommendations on them, they don't sound up my alley. And you know what? I don't know French, and I don't even recall seeing a French word yet.

Carolyn Crane said...

Oh, wait, that was YOU, Sula, offering the old Cole romances. Oops.

sula said...

hehe, it's all one big pile of confusing book swapping! I believe lisabea is sending me one or some of the paranormal Coles which I shall then read and pass along to you. In the meantime, I have the historical Cole which I can also send your way. Clear as mud?

For the record, my email is sulawesigirl4 at yahoo dot com.

lisabea said...

What I really want is a pony!!! Ok, no? Well that book sounds great, CJ.

Kati said...

I like the Cole books. I will say this though, they're "busy" books. She's got multiple stories going on and a complicated mythology, so it can be a bit confusing.

More than that, I freaking hate the titles. I think there should be a rule that romance titles can't be more than four words. I still call the third one "The Kresley with the Stupid Title." It's too damn long!

KT Grant said...

Wicked Deeds was a DNF for me. :(
All that waa-ing from both the hero and heroine, stomping through the jungle and Mari has major issues whenever she sees her reflection in some water.
The first two books were great, out of control hot fun. Wicked Deeds blew monkey chunks.

Kati said...

So, Kate, don't hold back for goodness sakes, tell us what you really think. ;o)

KT Grant said...

Monkey butt, MK, monkey butt.
:)

I don't think your blog should be slow to load due to the size of the header graphic. I would think that's a minor thing compared to the speed of user's computer and their internet provider.

As far as Cole goes, I truly love her IAD series. I think she's got some of the most vivid and well developed secondary characters out there. They really stand out to me. Anyway, I liked Wicked Deeds a lot, and you probably could read it as a standalone, but think it is best to read the series in order. The hero and heroine in Wicked Deeds are secondary characters from the earlier books. I just like knowing that kind of background stuff about the characters if I can.

Christine said...

And one more thing... Katiebabs and I usually have frighteningly similar tastes in books. Cole's WICKED DEEDS is one of the few we are in complete opposite opinion of. That alone should make you want to read it! :)

Carolyn Crane said...

Monkey Chunks! Okay, I have to read it now. You're right, Christine, so controversial. There are no emerging winners on my Cole poll, but Sula and I are doing a swap soon involving the first two, so at least I will read the first two first.

lisabea said...

I had to be #25. 2 sentences, CJ. Isn't it strange which posts get folks a talkin'?

Carolyn Crane said...

Very! I was gone all last night and surprised when I opened my mail. But so pleasantly surprised.

And you will be, too, because answer #25 wins a pony!

You know, it looks like you agree with Katiebabs on the first two being good and the third bad.

lisabea said...

I won a PONY!!!! Do you need a mailing envelope for that? I bought some yesterday at staples.

Wendy said...

I answered both! :)

it'd be better if you read them in order BUT you can read Wicked Deeds first if you want.

Christine said...

If you're gonna be sending lisabea a PONY, I know just the one! Oh no, no, people, get your minds out of the gutter... its not for THAT kind of ride!!!!

Check it out: A pony for lisabea.

I'll even go in halfsies with ya! :)

Carolyn Crane said...

W: it looks like I'll be able to read them in order after all. Yay.

Christine: Excellent! Lisabea will love to ride that pony.

lisabea said...

I shall name her Twink and she shall be my pink twink pony. I wonder if she knows how to mix a Pop My Cherry Martini?

Heh.

KT Grant said...

I want a pony!!! WAAAA!!!
Can I name her Sunny Muffins?
