Blogger meet-up

Okay, I just got back from my long weekend trip to Pewaukee to visit my mom and sister and her family. We spent a lot of time just sitting on the porch overlooking Pewaukee lake and talking. My brother-in-law and I had a heated argument on whether you can see the Southern Cross from Wisconsin.

I suspect I was on the wrong side of it. It was great to see them, and difficult to say goodbye, as usual.

And then I made a side trip to Chicago to meet up with Lisabea, her daughter, and Shannon. I am happy to report everybody was not only quite sane but lovely and funny and smart and delightful.

The group of us had a great time!

I was nervous, and I wasn't sure what to wear at all - or what to bring - but I settled on an apron type dress, and a black dress for later. Can you ever go wrong with a black dress?

LB and I had a lot in common. We were instant friends!

The group of us went to this Tapas restaurant where we gorged ourselves on about 20 different yummy items, drank Sangria, talked fondly about books and a million other things, and had a generally jolly time.

Later, LB and daughter and I walked all around Chicago. Very fun.

I am all types of green right now! But honestly, I am so happy for all you guys! LB was one of the reasons I went to SF. She had me laughing so hard I almost peed my pants a few times.
Got to love TMI!

I love Chicago. One of my best friends lived there until about 4 months ago. I'm glad she lives here now, but it was so nice to have a free place to stay 2 or 3 times a year.

I love seeing just how fine that jacket looks on me from the back!

:)

Had a great time. Glad you don't snore. heh.

You didn't snore!

Yes, that jacket was fabulous on you!

Okay, I'm glad. You didn't snore, either!

I have never been to chicago, but it sounds like it was a fun time.

Katiebabs....my eyeless puppet sends his regards.

Chicago is a fun town. With GREAT food. Shannon gets two thumbs up for that excellent Tapas place.

KB: Yes, LB is totally funny - in a good way! You'd like Shannon, too.

Liza: oh well, at least you have a fun neighbor.

Serena: I hadn't been there since I was a kid, and it really was fun.

LB: eyeless puppet? Do I want to know?

That sounds so much dirtier than it was. She made me a MLM sock puppet and presented it to me over dinner at RWA. Very funny...unfortunately his eyes fell off. However, armed with a green sharpie, I drew new ones in.

She made one for Jane, too. Our KB is the sweetest girl in blogland.

The poor thing is still blind? You don't want sock LB to see? What are you hiding?
I am afraid to know what Jane did with mine because when I left, she was quite happy with her drinks and puppet in hand.
I also lost my pony!! Actually Jill M is holding it for ransom.

CJ: I heart you! At first I was like, "Wow, they look amazing....wait....is that Madonna??"

SNORT!

Glad you guys had fun. I'm all kinds of jealous that y'all got together. I'm hoping to meet tons of fellow bloggers at next year's RWA.

Carolyn Crane said...

MK: You know, I used to have only the top two photos on there, but I was think people might have thought they were us. And I wouldn't want that, because, you know, we are WAY hotter than Gwenyth and Eva.

I was so jealous on the RWA fun, I tell you! So this was like my RWA of three.

Sounds like you had fun! :)

Wow, don't we just look fabulous in those photos? Quite gorgeous, in fact ;)

It was great meeting you both. I had a great time at dinner. LB- your daughter is great. She was cracking me up.

Man, KB makes the coolest gifts. Now I feel like a bad semi-hostess. I almost brought along some horribly bad category romances my coworker gave me, but I didn't want you cursing me after you left.

You all are so pretty. I'm feeling like the ugly duckling. :~P

I'm so glad y'all had a great time! That's always good. :)

I was just thinking the same thing Bridget! If I had of been there I definitely would have been the one taking the photos!

You all look gorgeous and it sounds like a great time was had by all!

I am so sad I missed out on meeting you and LisaBea on Sunday. I had something going on, plus I wasn't feeling well, dammit. Sounds like you guys had fun. And Shannon is great to hang with.

Shannon: If you saw the puppets I made, you may be happier with your category books.
If you come to the NYC area *hint hint* I can make you one also. Or perhaps I need a road trip? :D

Shannon said...

Road trip! Road trip!!!!

Carolyn Crane said...

Wendy: We did have fun!

Shannon: Yeah! Where are our party favors? You were a great hostess, though.

Bridget & Marg: I can't tell if you're being funny, but you know, those photos aren't really us.

Stacy: We would've loved to see you, but we understood.

KB: puppets. Mmmm.

Well if any of you are ever in Scotland....

Carolyn Crane said...

Tracy: It was really fun. It made up for not being at RWA.

Tracee: Thanks so much! And thanks for stopping by!

Tumperkin: If I am ever across the pond, I will definitely be darkening your doorstep!

Shannon said...

haha... we suddenly look different. I love the new pics. We are very punky.

Shannon, I got into a very silly mood.
