I stopped over at lovely Limecello's blog this week to talk about being a writer in my 40s, and how you just can't use some cultural references anymore...like Gilligan. Or Mr. Bill!
But, can you still use "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time?" There's only one place to find out. Come see.

It never ceases to amaze me how many little known stories there are about
the events in WWII that are still being told in new stories. This is

Read the blog. It was very funny!
After watching the theme to Baretta, I see a resemblance between Robert Blake and Chris Kattan from SNL. Anyway, that show made me want a cockatoo for a pet. LOL
Carolyn,
I'm 28, but I spent a lot of MY youth watching television reruns on Nick at Nite--thus making me the only person on Earth who can compete with my mother at TV trivia games! So I'll dispute you on some of these, but take my opinion with a grain of salt:
*Gilligan, I think, is still okay, as well as "three-hour tour." Syndication ensured Gilligan lived long past its life expectancy.
*Frank Burns...well, I get it, because I was OBSESSED with M*A*S*H for several years while I was in high school, but I don't know that anyone else would unless they were M*A*S*H junkies. The show is still running quite frequently, so it's possible...but Frank Burns wasn't even the most memorable character *on* M*A*S*H!
*Fonzie, I think you're okay. I thought everyone knew Fonzie!
*Afterschool special...I don't think I have ever actually seen an afterschool special, but I know what they are. It's entered the cultural lexicon, in my opinion.
*Up your nose with a rubber hose...well, it does stand on its own, but I doubt most people would "get" it. (Most don't when I do my Horseshack impression.)
